Journeys In A Room
Journeys In a Room is a project that sprung from a desire to keep challenging the mind in trying to grasp the immediate sense of home away from home.
Working as a photographer and assistant traveling the world, you stay in temporary homes; they are your private spaces for a shorter or longer time, but they are never a reflection of you.
The idea was to document the homes and how they affect you, how you interact within a place that has the features of a home, but not the context of a real one.
The result is a glimpse thru the door into a world of mixed reality that sometimes borders the surreal; the actuality of the bland walls and interior space, melts together with the fabrication of the mind.
Since late 2004 I have portrayed myself in almost every hotel room I have been in since, running into the hundreds, trying to use the room, mood and my own state of mind to create small visual journeys into a world of the traveling man.
These pictures are a representation of this project.
